Part 2- Chapter 1

Part 2- The Dawning

Chapter 1

One step One word

One act

And the past is gone.

Maia stood in the cold mist, her bare ankles numbing. She huddled under the worn and torn cloak that had once belonged to her mother. Tim stood a couple paces away. Dark circles hung under his handsome eyes. Sleep had evaded Maia too, the night before. With a bang, Anna exited the hut that Maia would no longer call home.

"Come on folks! We have places to go! People to see!" Anna cried. "More like a place to go, and a person to see, but who cares? We still need to head out so come on!" Maia and Tim stared blankly at Anna. Maia felt the energy practically radiating off of Anna, and envied her for it. Her long night stared at her in the face, and wondered how anyone could have that much energy so early.

"Actually never mind. Stay here. I am going to create some horses." Anna strode forward, and then paused. Slowly she turned around. "Stop looking at me like I'm some....disgusting green thing you found on the bottom of your shoe! Shall I spell it out? I AM GOING TO MAKE HOR---- ohhh Anna you forgot! Silly woman! They are novices! They know nothing! Better start from the top..."

"If you are a Master you can create things out of that Element. I can control all four, so I have a choice between making our transportation out of Air, Earth, Fire, and Water. I will make horses out of Earth, because it is the best Element to create animals out of. So, step back and watch. Oh, and try not to scream because the last thing I need is Mrs. Owen here."

Anna stepped forward and held up her hands. In a second, three majestic horses stood in front of them, paws kicking. They threw back their heads and neighed. Anna's arms shook with effort, but eventually they quieted.

        "Mount!" barked Anna.

Maia clambered up, putting her foot in the stirrup and swinging the other over her horses back. The saddle was soft and pliable, like a too-ripe peach.

"We ride until mid-day. Then we will stop to rest, and dine. Follow me!" Anna kicked her horse, and Maia and Tim followed leaving their childhood, home, and memories in the dust.
